Movie: National Treasure

I got this using Amazon DVD rental, and yesterday i saw it. Picture and sound quality are average, there are some really noisy scenes, especially at the beginning. The movie is pure Hollywood at it’s worst. It leaves you uninspired, untouched, not caring, but entertained. It’s like eating at McDonald’s – you are not hungry anymore, but you can’t really remember what and why you have eaten there either.

The movie is a clearly riding on the whole Dan Brown conspiracy wave, and steals (of course) from the old Indiana Jones movies. But it does not really manage to pull it off, why the Gates Family is so fascinated with that treasure, is factually explained, but it never really convinced me to believe in their character portraits.

Anyway, one of the weaker Nicolas Cage movies i have seen so far (and i really like the actor). Worth watching if you have popcorn to burn, but there is no reason to choose this one over any other popcorn movie.
