Eric Clapton, 7-13-2006 in Cologne

I went to see Eric Clapton on his “Back Home” concert in Cologne yesterday.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Robert Cray Band as the opener. Robert Cray later joined Clapton on stage for 2 songs, where the first one “Cruel Love” (I think) was my favourite of the evening.

Both bands were a joy to watch, they showed a lot of spirit. Sadly, the Cologne Arena is not a great sound stage, the sound was just too loud, and therefore sometimes distorted. They deserved better than that. It was a good show, but it could have been a great show with a bit more technical effort.

And, confirming my believes that the majority of Germans are pigs with an attitude, there was smoking inside the arena, and people continued to smoke even after they were told it is not allowed…
